The Aurillac stadium, home to our local rugby team, is a strong symbol of the region’s commitment to sport. What’s more, the region hosts numerous sporting events throughout the year, from local competitions to larger-scale events, bringing locals and visitors together around shared passions. Stade Aurillacois Cantal Auvergne

Stade Aurillacois, the sporting emblem of the town of Aurillac, is a XV rugby club that embodies Cantal’s passion and commitment to the sport. Founded in 1904, over the decades it has become one of the most respected clubs in French rugby. Currently in Pro D2, the Stade Aurillacois stands out for its fighting spirit and its attachment to the values of solidarity and hard work. The Stade Jean-Alric, where the team plays, is the beating heart of the town on match days, bringing together fervent supporters to back the “Rouge et Bleu”. Through its performances and local roots, the Stade Aurillacois proudly contributes to the sporting reputation of the Pays d’Aurillac.

VOLCAN'X TRIATHLON

The VOLCAN’X TRI is a spectacular triathlon race held in the heart of the Cantal region, on Europe’s largest volcano: the Grand Site de France du Puy Mary. Every year, this sporting event attracts athletes from all horizons, who come to take up an exceptional challenge in a breathtaking natural setting. The different race formats cater for both experienced athletes and beginners, with events to suit all levels:

Tri Montagne: a great format for the strongest, to be completed solo or in team relays. It includes: 1900 m swim,
92 km road bike,
14.5 km trail through volcanic landscapes.

Tri des Graves: the benchmark format, with moderate but equally demanding distances:
900 m swim,
41 km road bike,
10 km trail.

Tri Découverte: an XS format, ideal for those wishing to learn about triathlon in a friendly atmosphere: 250 m swim,
22 km cycling,
4.5 km trail.

UTPMA

Ultra Trail Puy Mary Aurillac: UTPMA is an annual trail and ultra-trail race held around Aurillac in the Auvergne. The main events include the ultra trail (around 100 km with a significant altitude difference), the trail (shorter races of 40 to 50 km) and nature races and hikes (more accessible distances for beginners). The event is organized by a local association and mobilizes numerous volunteers. The routes take in spectacular scenery, such as the Puy Mary massif. The UTPMA attracts runners of all levels.

Cantal Tour Sport

The Cantal Tour Sport is an itinerant event organized in the Cantal department, designed to promote sporting activities among 6-18 year-olds. During the school vacations and at other times of the year, the initiative offers activities and introductions to various sports in a number of Cantal communes.

The main aims of Cantal Tour Sport are :
Discover and introduce different sports: Participants can try out a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, climbing, running and archery.
Promote physical activity and encourage a healthy lifestyle among young people, by giving them the opportunity to discover new disciplines in a fun setting.
Encourage social cohesion and access to sport for all, even in rural areas or those far from the usual sports facilities.
The Cantal Tour Sport is also an opportunity for families to get together around the values of sport, and for children, teenagers and adults to have fun while staying active.
