Stay History(s)… on the River

Treat yourself to a unique getaway, where history and nature meet to create unforgettable memories!

Discover “Histoire(s) au fil de l’eau”, a packaged holiday designed for lovers of heritage and grandiose landscapes.

The morning Old Aurillac

You’ll visit Old Aurillac, where you’ll meet Gerbert, a local boy who became the 1st French Pope, and Geraud, the founding saint of the town of Aurillac, from the banks of the Jordanne, a romantic southern-style ensemble, to the abbey church, the consular house, half-timbered houses, plush hotels and many other surprises that make Aurillac a multi-faceted town.

The visit will be enhanced by a tasting of Auvergne cheeses, with the possibility of shopping in the boutique.

In the afternoon Gorges de la Jordanne

Take the Sentier de découverte des Gorges de la Jordanne and plunge into the heart of an exceptional, preserved natural heritage!

Between the Méjanet bridge, below Saint-Julien-de-Jordanne, and the Gétine bridge, on the boundary between Saint-Cirgues-de-Jordanne and Lascelles, the Jordanne winds for over 3 km through gorges ranging in depth from 20 to 60 metres.

Carved out by water over the centuries in volcanic breccias, this unique natural setting, very different from the surrounding meadows or peaks, combines river, steep rock faces and overhanging forest. The result is a wildly colorful ambience, where the play of light responds to the echo of the slightest noise…
